Round 3
Vs. Carrollton School
Judge: Dan Lewis
Plan Text and 1AC: Same as the ones from Dartmouth
171 SS Shawneeism
2AC:
Group: T and DA
Overview:
They say Debate is about policy issues. What do we do as debaters in reality? What do we do as debaters to help the world? We can’t actually change the USFG – we can only individually create a new discourse. Once we affirm stories, all other risks are irrelevant
Topicality: They misconstrue the aff. We question the need for policy options. The true problem is that westerners is we just pass policy just for the sake of passing policies These policies inev → colonialism. We need to question politics, not policyl We are the only ones providing a discourse about Africans.
On the definitions: Mignolo and therest of the 1AC critiques the notion of exclusive definitions. With rigid definitions, we cannot interact between cultures – we need to listen to other perspectives.
Role playing is irrelevant – voting neg doesn’t really do anything, only voting aff affirms anything. Eve if they win we’re not predictable. the warrants why we limit ground is a reason to vote aff. We ask why the resolution exists. We get to the root cause.
On the standards: Including African perspectives is predictable. This is specifically African ground
The DA: Proves that any team that tries to affirm an advocacy is silenced. We are here to see what we can do as individuals. The DA is a construct and stupid.
Counterplan:
PERM do both: we can listen to voices anyways
They don’t answer the NB – the case; heeding African voices.
They are disingenuine
Case: Only voting aff prevents us from being utilitarian slaves. Switch side good is not responsive; we flip the paradigms of debate. Extend 1Ac – disc is good
